Dustin the Turkey sounds like a metaphor for something rude.... <whistle>

Dustin is a well established character on RTÉ (Ireland's equivalent of the BBC).
Dustin has released songs before... and is see as a bit of a laugh enjoyed by Children and Adults alike...
I think that even in Ireland (the greatest Eurovision nation) the Eurovision has become past it's sell by date and this is reflected in this potential entry...

It wouldn't matter if John Lennon, George Harrison,Mozart, Beethovan, Sinatra, Pavarotti or any other singer/song writer/composer were brought back to life and had their efforts combined and entered in the Eurovision song contest for any of the western European nations........................ it will be won by a cheating eastern European block voting scam again.
Italy told them were to shove this competition when they finally realised the path the voting was going. We either change the way votes are cast or the rest of Europe who have funded this from its outset should tell the cheats to shove it and fund it them selves.
I am no fan of the music, but there is some charm to this competition as its been around for a very long time and was set up with good intentions.
I could never see me buying the best song thats sung, but at least let the best song win!! <think>

It's hardly "cheating" if the Eastern European nations choose to vote for one another - it's what everyone has been doing since the outset anyway! Eurovision is not, and has never been, about the music. It's a political game, and the sooner Britain wakes up to that fact the better (especially since our entries seem to get worse and worse each year).

Indeed it has never been about just the music, although I do believe in it's early guise it was taken seriously..
Over the many years of Eurovision Ireland has handed out the most votes to.... The UK, and the UK has awarded the lions share of it's votes to..... Ireland so just because we can no longer rely on as many other nations to give us the big points if is wrong to thing we (Ireland and the UK) have not done exactly what we accuse or deride the Eastern nations for doing...
Besides... ever since the enlargement of the competition to include the former Bloc countries, not all countries get an entry, the five bottom entries from the last contest are excluded for the next while the five who had been excluded get to return...
So we have seen years where there has been no France, German and indeed Ireland entries.
There is one exception to this rule.... Yes the UK are exempt from this relegation rule and in 2001 when they scored 'nil points' they still returned in 2002 while the country that had finished 6th from bottom was excluded.
So yes it is a farce, and it is political, but the UK gets it's share
In our house we make it a party night and have friends round... laugh at the entries and predict the scoring.
