Title: pitlane reporters
Description: big fat waste of time?

During the Grand Prix they frequently go over to Ted Kravitz in the pits, and how often does he have something interesting to say? Not very often. In my view the only useful thing he does is tell us what type of tyre the team have put on the car whenever MB and JA are too busy to look out the window and see for themselves. The rest of the time he just speculates or tells us the obvious, things like "this is Hamilton's last qualifying run, his last chance to take pole" which the commentators have already pointed out.

Secondly I find Louise Goodman's interviews with the retirees increasingly repetitive and dull. 95% of these interviews tell us nothing insightful. A typical conversation might run as follows
Louise: "tell us what happened"
Driver: "the engine expired"
Louise: "until then you were doing well, so you must be very disappointed"
Driver: "yes I am dissapointed because until then we were doing well"
Louise: "It's not your lucky day is it?"
Driver: "No, it is not"
These are made worse by the fact they are played over live action meaning we can't even see the driver being questioned. I'd much rather wait until after the race and hear from the drivers who finished 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th etc... than interrupt live commentary to listen to a long list of retirees saying their car broke down (which we knew already since we saw it happen).

I'm not blaming Kravitz and Goodman themselves, it's the job itself that is bollocks.

Cant really argue this.

I don't object to Ted Kravitz so much as very occassionally he does find out some useful information from the pit garages - scratching head now desperately trying to think of an example, but can't at the moment.

As for Louise Goodman, what a waste of space. Does the woman not listen to what the drivers say...

LG: so (insert crashed out driver name) what happened out there?
Driver: the back wing failed and I spun out on the straight
LG: so why did you spin out?
Driver: because the back wing failed
LG: you must be so disappointed.....
to be continued ad inifinitum and ad nauseum.

Doh, we know why, he just said so, you stupid cow!

Rant over. I feel so much better now.

Ted 'random theory' Kravitz. He comes up with such stupid theories.

I think whenever Louise Goodman goes to interview a retired Red Bull driver, she must be wearing a T-shirt reading "SWEAR AT ME." They seem to do it rather a lot.

If the BBC do keep him on there should be a clause in his contract expressly stating he is not allowed to come up with any more theories about anything.

I think the best one was Johnny Herbert while he was driving for Lotus. He retired so often that MW often mentioned that Jonathon Palmer could practically book an appointment to interview him while the race was on. After one retirement, Palmer asked him what had happened this time, and he replied that the car was bound to end up retiring because Palmer had spoken to him before the race started.....

Kravitz random theory number 984:

Red Bull protested against Mclaren to get them moved to the end of the pitlane so Red Bull could get their hands on the 5th pitlane garage. <roflmao>
