Just heard that David Leslie - a true supporter of Marshals - and a former BTCC racer has been killed in the Kent Plane Crash earlier today.

Shame that the loss of a true motorsport legend will be completly over shadowed by the actions of a total idiot

I'm not sure why this is in the marshals section - surely it should be in a more conspicuous place as the world of motorsport has lost a bloody good driver and a thoroughly decent bloke to boot.
I feel as though I have lost a very dear friend, having known David for the last 17 years. I shall miss his friendly banter as he strolls down the pit lane.
My deepest sympathy to his wife and family at this truly awful time.

I put the original thread in MARSHALS first, as david was a true supporter of us all....and I thought the Marshals could pay respects there. But hey-ho, what do I know?

I remember watching David Leslie in BTCC, he was always smiling when he gave an interview and seemed a nice chap.
I know he supported David Coulthard early in his career, so maybe we might see another helmet tribute from DC as he did for Colin McRae. Would be nice to see him acknowledged on a world wide stage.

I see the BBC are reporting that David Leslie was amongst the people killed in yesterday's aircraft accident in Kent. May I offer my condolancies to the families of everyone involved. Sad day.

Came across this photo of David Leslie and DC at Le Mans in 1993 where I think they won their class. Tom Walkinshaw is the team boss.
