The BSB season finally got underway today after the snow enforced break at Brands Hatch.

The first race was pretty intense at the start but once Shaky got into the lead that was that there was no catching him.

The second race looked like going the same way, but on lap 5 there was a truly horrific accident when Tom Sykes rode into the back of Leon Haslam, Sykes came off his bike which cartwheeld backwards and knocked the luckless Karl Harris off of his bike and into the air fence.

Haslam was able to continue but Sykes and Harris were out but both walked away, I can't say uninjured though. Harris as you would expect looked very groggy.

When the race restarted Shaky Byrne was trapped behind several bikes whilst Honda's Cal Crutchlow built a steady lead. Byrne and Rutter were engaged in a race long fight which eventually ended in Shaky's favour.

After this race Byrne and Cruthlow share the lead on 45 points each.

Sounds like a good season opener.

Sounds like a good season opener.

The first race is usually very good at doing that.....
