Title: How has your team faired

willyshafter - April 21, 2008 09:27 AM (GMT)
With just a hand full of game left before the end of another season how has your team done.

Are they still in the hope of a trophy or promotion.

Looking down the barrel of the relagtion gun, or has it been another season in the mid table wonderland.

For my team it has not been a stella year starting the season with a new manger and lots of promise but coming to nothing. Thankfully the return of King Kevin has brought an up turn in form and a Glorious derby day win which means where undefeated against both North East Rivals this Season <dance>

Well after we scraped promotion last season, I said I'd be happy to avoid going back down this season. We had a pretty poor start to the season, as is customary, but pulled it together after Christmas and are now more or less safe - although that particular part of the Championship table is rather close this year! If we can overhaul Preston in the last two games of the season, I'll be ecstatic - but I doubt it will happen.

Has the so called KING KEVIN done anything that Sam Allardyce would not have if he had been given time??

I do not think so.....

Newcastle fans went well down in my estimations after that farce

Well, after three races Ferrari are doing not as well as I'd like, but it's early days yet.

I think you have a valid point. Big Sam needed more time but changes in the board room after his appointment didn't help him. However I don't think that the way Big Sam's teams play suited the player he had at Newcastle. Yes it has taken time of King Kev to get the team playing well but they are now and have been undefeated in the last 6 games which is more than they achieved under Allardyce.

Also they are playing better football than they ever did under Allardyce. I thought he was a good manager before he came to Newcastle, however his perfomance has made me raise real questions about him and come to the asumtion that he is a one trick pony.

RJHSaints - April 21, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
Kevin Keegan's last five matches or so have been excellent. He got off to a slow start alright, but they seem to be getting it together now.

Yer i have to agree.

I think which also helps is that the fans LOVE King Kenny so that gives you a big advantage.

When the fans are supporting you and the team is not playing well it makes all the difference <thumbsup>

Allerdyce never had a fully fit owen at his disposal, owen is finally back to 100% and he is showing to all that he still has the quality to be a top class goal scorer.
He has consitantly proven himself to be up there with the best and his doubters will have to start rethinking their position pretty soon.

I must say i thought Owen was going to be a shadow of himself after the injuries he has had but he has been very impressive and has himself taken Newcastle out of the drop zone.

If Owen if fit next season Newcastle could end 2009 in the top 6

Top 6 I certainly hope so. Owen has also been help by diffrent team formation and tactices allowing him to roam more and not rely on his pace, which due to his injuries has droped off a little.

This is again down to KK affect somthing Big Sam nor many other recent Newcastle managers seemed to be able to replicate. The player seem to believe in the manager and want to play. Maybe the fans are also apart of this as there seems to be more of a buzz around the place that was never there while Allerdyce was in charge.

I’m delighted with the way my team has performed this season

Lesser beings would have withered away and died in such adversity but along with Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet first of all and then Gary McAllister the players have fought 100% for the cause

It’s also worth nothing that almost every team Leeds have played have had their highest attendance of the season against us, Leeds have made so much money for the teams in League 1 this season

And also should Leeds beat Gillingham on the last day of the season they would have beaten every team in the league apart from Cheltenham, we’ve slayed every single team ‘above’ us, Forest, Swansea, Carlisle, Doncaster and Southend

Leeds United have scored 85 points, FACT! And we should be in 2nd place in league, despite what the idiots will tell you, we are a hell of a lot more deserving of going up then Carlisle, Doncaster, Forest and Southend, we have won a lot more games than them, FACT

Despite plenty of people predicting a further downfall Leeds have stood up been counted and stuck up to fingers to all the haters

The attendances have been fantastic, bigger then some Premier League teams most week

And best of all we are still top of hooligan league, Cardiff and Millwall just ain’t trying hard enough

Rams - April 23, 2008 11:23 AM (GMT)
Well... we did manage to win ONE game! <roflmao>

However it wasn't all bad, we got rich American owners out of it, as one of them had been a Derby fan all his life and a great manager. We have higher attendances than a lot of other Premiership clubs and have amazingly sold more season tickets for next year so far than we had this time last year.

Roll on next season <thumbsup>

Don't remind me Allerdyce deserved the sack for that alone.

Morpun94 - April 23, 2008 05:36 PM (GMT)
Bradford and Stuart McCall have steadily improved as the season so i am happy. We cant finish any higher than our current position of 9th, but i am pretty pleased. Very promising signing of Willy Topp, and first time city have won 10 home games in a season since the days of our first season after premiership relagation. It really looks good for the future at City

My boys (West Ham) are doing okay - stuck mid-pack.
We're not going down (thank goodness) but we ain't going to Europe either :(

There's always next season though!

GV Legend - April 23, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
after a steady start to the season, not spectacular but not disasterous, we found out or chairman was just the latest in a long line of crooks. going into administration galvanised the team, we did well in the carling cup beating sunderland and charlton as well as taking everton to extra time.
The FA cup saw us almost shock liverpool again, but once again we blew our big chance - and all that we managed to do was put our best players in the shop window.

After edwards and coyne were sold it was curtains for our season and all mick harford could do was try to get some belief back in the team, and considering more of our best players noone can hold relegation aainst the manager or the youngsters he has been force to blood.

If we can hold onto the youngsters like keane, brill, talbot, charles, asafu adejaye, as well as the old heads of spring and parkin (if he can stay fit) then hopefully we can make a good fist of bouncing str8 back up.

Luton till i die.

Europe with Curbishley? Doubtful, he's made some very bad signings, which seems to have been overlooked. Plus, everyone he signs then gets injured. It can't just be bad luck, there must be *something* going on.

Sunderland are safe now, which is all I wanted at the start of next season. Top 10 has to be the target for next season. We're only 8 points off to 10, so it is doable.

No idea how we are going to persuade players to sign for us though...

Yes.....Curbishley's been going around injuring his players to give him an excuse for when he fails! <doh>

West Ham have been missing the likes of Bellamy and Gabbidon all year, along with Collins. One of those is a match winner, the other two would be first team regulars, or at least strong squad members.

There's probably a whole host of others that have been injured. if they'd had all those players they'd be challenging for Europe I feel.

safc_fan89 - April 27, 2008 03:55 PM (GMT)
The same happened last season, all his January signings kept getting injured.

We have had considerably more injuries since Keane took over, but he's an inexperienced manager and has made mistakes, mainly bringing players back too quickly.

Morpun94 - April 27, 2008 05:18 PM (GMT)
The West Ham injuries is an intersting problem. In a purely Video Games world, if that was happenign to my team on football manager, i'd review how i had the training set, cos the players coming in perhaps cant adapt to heavy trianing sessions, and get injured as a result. Just a theory, I have NO, NADA ZERO, evidence for this

..the problem with West Sham is that for years they've focused on their youth academy but it's dried up a bit

Mark Noble is fairly decent players but they've had to resort to signing players in

and what was the managers thinking

Keiron Dyer? Dyer he usually is

and Craig Bellamy, without doubt the most overrated player in the league, a flop at Liverpool and falls out with everyone anywhere he goes

Curbs is not the man the lead West Sham into Europe but they should be thankfull the cheatin' barstewards are playing premier league football at all

Don't talk to me about that pratt. Bellamy has never last more than a season and a half at any club, and for dyer well you said it all.

It seem West Ham is where all the unwanted rubish form Newcastle is sent.

*here comes the Ridsdale shite again for 1millionth time*

big difference between the OWNERS and the FANS mate

what goes around comes around and i'll tell you this

NOTTINGHAM FOREST were the ONLY team above us in the League to back us with the 15 Point penalty, it is poetic justice that they got the 2nd promotion place and not the Southend, Donny and Carlisle scum

I am delighted for Forest and their fans and now hopefully after their triumph Leeds will follow them

the fact remains that Leeds, Swansea and Forest are BY FAR the best teams in that League, we scored 11 points more than Donny and 15 more than Southend

anything can happen in the play offs though and take nothing for granted

whatever happens, the Leeds players and staff deserve all the credit in the world for what they have done and only the most idiotic and biased fan could deny that is true

Well done lads, the entire squad, take a bow

Red Andy - May 4, 2008 10:42 PM (GMT)
Well, we're safe .... just, although it was a hectic last half an hour or so, trying to keep pace with all the crucial games! Next season's target is to cement ourselves as a proper Championship side, not the transplanted League One team that floundered for much of the season.
