Title: Barcelona - dipstick of the day

Norbert - April 27, 2008 01:56 PM (GMT)
After careful consideration, I have decided that the only dipstickable offence was the person at ITV who set the adverts off that caused the restart after Heikki's crash to be missed. No-one did anything daft on track, DC and Glock came together but it was really not much of an incident to be honest. Rubens had a bizarre incident in the pits where the wing was broken, but we never got to see exactly what happened.

Therefore I have no options to vote for because I don't think anyone merits berating for it.....!

This will no longer be a concern next season.

Thank goodness.

Funny how when someone rams into the back on DC it's "not much of an incident". Well I think Glock will get a 5 place penalty for that and deservedly so, it was completely his fault.

Also Sutil ramming into DC at the beginning of the race and then taking out Vettel.

Red Bull's lack of teamwork was very poor today too. Webber came out after his second stop just ahead of DC but with no more stops to make. The sensible thing would have been to let DC through as he still had to pit again, but no they did not. This cost him 7 seconds relative to Button and the chance of points. Unbelieveably stupid.

It wasn't completely Glock's fault at all, DC was again guilty of not being aware of where the Toyota was, defended the inside and got caught out. Glock was directly behind, and thus most of the blame lies with him, but DC was more than an innocent bystander in that collision.

"Completely innocent" was more like Vettel, who had no option but to run into Sutil on the first lap.

not real contenders today.

glock showing rookie traits

What *are* you talking about? DC was in the corner and Glock rammed his rear wheel. He wasn't even remotely close to being alongside him.

Hell, even Norbert agrees this wasn't DC's fault <doh>

ELUSIVEJIM - April 28, 2008 08:12 AM (GMT)
Its between two drivers for me

Sutil AGAIN lost the plot which took out the new WEBBER for bad luck in the shape of Vettel but the biggest plonker of the day goes to

Piquet Jnr

Sorry but went off the circuit and then decided to go for a stupid overtaking move which ended his race along with Bourdais.

<dunce>

Apparently Toyota saw Glock and Trulli's collision on TV and thought it was Trulli so they called him into the pits, costing him sixth place <LOL>

Red Andy - April 28, 2008 09:11 AM (GMT)
The stewards have decided to take no action from the Glock/DC collision:

Sensible IMO.

Very poor desicion, you cannot go around ramming people in their rear wheels.

Similar to Kubica/Nakajima but no consistency

I think dipstick of the race, nay season, should be the mirror designer for RBR/STR. Bourdais ended up smacking into Piquet because of them.

I don't think drivers should be discouraged from attempting to overtake one another. Only when an overtaking attempt is obviously dangerous should a penalty be applied.

AndyW76 - April 29, 2008 12:28 PM (GMT)
Also, Nakajima/Kubica was under the safety car where overtaking isn't allowed. I think the FIA has the balance just about right.

Sorry, but that's just utter rubbish. 'Rammed into the back of'...?

<roflmao>

BARELY clipped DC's rear wheel after DC moved very late. All Glock's fault, but it wasn't reckless or stupid, he just misjudged it and made the slightest contact. Quite rightly no penalty was dished out because there was no offence. DC was blameless, but that doesn't mean that Glock should be punished. Had Glock crashed into him sideways at 50mph closing speed then there's a case for penalising him, but this was just one of those things.

I don't recall DC getting penalised for almost killing Wurz... your point is?

How can you criticise other people's opinions if you then go and say that?

Nakajima hit Kubica under SAFETY CAR conditions. In perfect weather, in a corner. No excuses.

Glock probably shouldn't have attempted to pass DC, but there was a gap there, and if you leave a gap then the other driver will attempt to fill that gap. That is part of the 'art' of overtaking.

Worst move though was Sutil's.
