A Lap Of Sepang
By Paul Murtagh

The drivers come along the long pit straight with the huge garages on the right and the large grandstands on the left. Approaching Turn 1 the drivers are in 7th gear at 310km/h, then hard breaking into Turn 1. The corner doubles back on itself and leads straight away into Turn 2 which tightens up in the middle before opening up on the exit. Turn 3 is flat out and is basically an acceleration zone onto the short straight leading into Turn 4.

As the drivers exit Turn 4 the drivers build up speed before entering the fast chicane at Turns 5 and 6 with full throttle through 5 before feathering the throttle through 6. Then the drivers enter the double right-hander at Turn 7 and 8 clipping the apex of each. The drivers then build up speed before entering the slowest corner on the circuit, the hairpin in Turn 9.

The drivers then accelerate out of Turn 9 towards Turn 10, with the road turning right before sharpening into Turn 10 making it tricky to clip the apex. Out of Turn 10 the drivers go towards another fast chicane, Turns 11 and 12 before carrying speed into the tricky entry of Turn 13. The drivers then build up speed out of 13 along the back straight into the final corner, probably the best overtaking spot on the circuit
