I am conducting a Survey of all the F1 fans that use the F1 part of this site, a couple of personal questions and then all F1 related questions on a range of topics. You could call it an F1 fan census if you like. This will probably end up being conducted on a yearly basis here.

Should be interesting to see what answers we get and may help use to get to know more about one another's F1 interests etc.

I will be analysing the results from some of the questions and will then produce some stats and then use them in a variety if threads in the coming weeks which should provide some good discussion I hope.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CONDITION OF F1 AT THE MOMENT DO YOU THINK THE FUTURE IS LOOKING BRIGHT FOR F1? Formula One is too reliant upon manufacturer entries. The manufacturers are too concerned with making F1 "road relevant" and not concerned enough with making it "racing relevant." Fans watch F1 not because their designers invent useful little electronic tips and fiddles, but because they want to see good racing. We need more of that, and less of the corporate-powered green-obsessed road-relevance revolution that we are getting today.

FUNNIEST F1 MOMENT? Japanese GP 199? Soaking wet race IIRC. Camera cuts to the straight just before the 130R where an errant wheel is rolling up towards the corner. Murray is bemused, and after a few comments back and forth between himself and Jonathon Palmer states the obvious "There's a car somewhere with only three wheels on!". MW and Palmer then fail to stifle their amusement and much laughter is heard in the background. Eventually the camera picks up Brundle's Ligier (?) which is said three wheeled car.

If several decide to pull out within 2 or 3 years of each other (which is what killed Group C Sportscar racing) F1 will be quite vulnerable. The other problem is the sport turning its back on traditional venues is favour of new countries or whims (having a second race in Spain when historically motor racing has never been that popular in the country).
