Title: Nurburgring 24 hour race delayed by rain

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 01:39 PM (GMT)
I was really looking forward to watching the start of this race - with 220 cars entered it was looking pretty interesting.

However, the current weather conditions in Germany are not favourable. That's an understatement - they are suffering severe flooding in some parts of the circuit owing to thunderstorms while other parts of the track are completely dry! <yikes>

Hopefully the race will get under way soon.

thats what happens when you have a track the size of a small country :D

its a shame, 220 entrants is mad, what a race!

are you watching the live streaming on the website WW? it looks really miserable. <grrr>

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
We are indeed watching it - I don't understand a word they are saying, of course, but you are quite right - the weather conditions are dire.

I understand that there is hope that two laps behind the pace car will start at 1515 UK time. Which is in about 10 minutes ! <thumbsup>

well, I hope it gets started. I like the clip of the guy on the track with the broom trying to push the water off. I hope he's not the only one cause that'll take a hell of a long time <roflmao>

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
<roflmao>

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
Oooh Hindy's doing the coverage on Globecast. That's better - at least he speaks English <roflmao>

Yeah, the spray is horrible isn't it? I'm glad I'm not there!

JJB-Ferrari - June 9, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
I wish we could hear more engines and less chit-chat.

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Google search for Globecast radio and you should find it. Once you've got the page hit the "Listen" button and Bob's your uncle!

I have Motors TV which is doing full coverage - unless you are refering to the quality of the coverage of Le Mans last year (croak croak!)

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
Ah yes, Martin did suffer a little didn't he! I spoke to him about a month afterwards and his voice still hadn't got back to normal. <yikes>

I usually listen to Radio LM in the advert breaks so as not to miss anything!

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
I think so - I just heard Hindy say someone was on slicks - that is scary!

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
That mini looks a little out of place !

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
How civilized - they are postponing the news in favour of the race! <thumbsup>

I was about to say it's looking better already!

I like the Ford Fiesta!

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
There is certainly an interesting mix of cars out there! :)

JJB-Ferrari - June 9, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
they are very racy considering its a 24h race! I would have thought that in the circs they would have taken it a lot easier.

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah - the Aston is going like a train!

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
Ah - pit stops now starting.

Looks like the cars who started on full wets are now changing to intermediates.

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
<yikes>

That was close - three wide down the pit straight as a car exited the pit lane!

JJB-Ferrari - June 9, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
arrrgh! missed that too! <mad>

JJB-Ferrari - June 9, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
that is the busiest pit lane I have ever seen!

wickedwitch - June 9, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
<dunce>

You really must pay more attention! <roflmao>

The number 11 Porsche is in the pits with damage - you'll have missed that as well? <think>

JJB-Ferrari - June 9, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
