Title: Vue Lewis on the Big Screen
Paul_Murtagh - June 26, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
Autosport.com - British GP to be shown in HDBritish Formula One fans will be able to follow the next week's race at Silverstone on the big screen thanks to Vue Cinemas.
The company will broadcast the race live to 30 multiplexes across the UK, in High Definition quality and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
The race action will be uninterrupted by commercial breaks.
Tickets for the event are available now from www.myvue.com.Is there anyone thinking about going at all? Seems a bit odd they are launching the HD service in a cinema and not into the homes of the 8 millions viewers

No way. That's completely stupid.
u4coffee - June 26, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
Does ITV have a High Def service?
dcoulthard19 - June 26, 2007 07:26 PM (GMT)
I would go and watch it in the cinema if it was on near me.
I love being surrounded by F1 fans rather than F1 bashers, thats one of the reasons why I loved being at the Grand Prix so much the last two years and at testing last week.
Hearing the cars in cinema surroud sound, huge screen, High definition, sounds like a great fun afternoon.
If it is on near me(don't think it is though) I will be in my car and on my way.

My local Vue is showing it but I wont be able to go. But if I could I'd be tempted.... very tempted

I think my local cinema is a showcase and not a vue so very much doubt they will show it there but will check just in case.

£20 or so just to watch a race on what is really a TV? You'd probably be the only one there, I don't see the point at all.

£15 for adults, £7.50 for children £30 for family ticket :)

Still a complete waste when you can see it for free at home ;)
Lord Tau - June 26, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
It ain't on in Cambridge, that's for certain.
Mind you, could you imagine James Allen in glorious Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound....? <yikes> <roflmao>
dcoulthard19 - June 26, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
Its only a bit of fun, not the solution to world hunger or a cure to a nasty disease.
I would love to watch F1 on the big screen and with huge surround sound and with NO ad Breaks, I can think of worse things to spend £15 on.

I agree, it would be fun
Are the no Vue cinemas that you can get to?
dcoulthard19 - June 26, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
No I don't think there are any, like I said above there is a showcase cinema near me but thats it unfortunately.
I would have to travel over an hour to find a Vue cinema near me and it isn't worth that long a journey.

Now, for a single person, £15 a time to watch the GPs might almost work out value for money *IF* you don't have James Allen or a TV licence, *but* if you have said licence, forget it. And James Allen at cinema volume??? Wouldn't that be suicidal??
The Saint - June 26, 2007 10:59 PM (GMT)
The USGP was broadcast in widescreen and the picture quality was awsome....though I am not going to say it was high def...but it was a damn good puicture

I'd still blow 30 quid on a train to Carlisle.

For the first time in Formula One history, fans will be able to watch the Grand Prix live on the big screen, thanks to Vue Cinemas, which is broadcasting the British Grand Prix directly from Silverstone to 30 multiplexes across the UK on Sunday 8 July.
The move is being billed as an opportunity to watch British driver Lewis Hamilton pursue his winning streak. As added bonus, the race action will be uninterrupted by the commercial breaks ITV viewers continue to endure.
7,000 seats are up for grabs at £15 each.

Does Bernie know.....
If he does... he will demand £14.99 of that ticket price... plus a share of the pop corn, hot dog and Cola sales... <roflmao>
