Title: Hard tyre chaos

Speedworx - July 6, 2007 08:06 PM (GMT)
The choice of tyre Bridgestone have chosen for Silverstone played havoc in qual.

Bruno Senna spun off and didn't set a time.
Glock had an issue and will start 5th.

Drivers are saying its too hard.

Well if it livens up the race...:D

So that is the tyre to be raced on as well? I read the practice review on autosport and nothing was mentioned then...

Perhaps it is also a reflection on the drivers. I don't think the grid has as much talent as the last 2 previous GP2 fields have had. I mean, 2 teammates driving into each other after about 100m? Amateurs!

Speed W, I'm not familiar with GP2 rules. Is that tire the only choice, and did the track conditions match those of the tire makers expectations in terms of heat?

Track temp was only 25 at the most during F1 practice, that I know...which is a lot lower than it has been anywhere else this season I think.

Autosport.com - Hard tyres cause havoc for GP2 field

Flood I think they are all told to use the same compound to keep it along the same lines as single chassis and engines but I'm not sure

Here's a revolutionary idea: if the tyres aren't as grippy, drive slightly slower!!

<roflmao>

This is all a clever conspiracy by Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone - the GP2 supremos - to make sure that, if some of these guys make it into F1, they are well-versed in coming up with silly excuses.

Honda will be signing all of them very soon.
