Title: Honda F1

Honda F1 Racing Team

Jenson Button (GBR)
Rubens Barrichello (BRA)

Honda
Wins: 0
Podiums: 0
Poles: 0
Points: 1 (Button – 1)

TPL Rating: 4 out of 10

After finally taking their first win at Hungary in 2006, much was expected of the Brackley-based team. They were the only top team to have some sort of stability through to 2007, and their confidence seemed to be sky-high. But it has proved to be a disaster so far. The car has been off the pace of not only the front-runners but the midfield teams as well, including their own junior team Super Aguri. They looked to be heading in the right direction at Monaco, but it was just a one-off, and the Japanese outfit scored their first point of the season in France. Surely things can only get better

It's hard to judge the two Honda drivers with such a bad car underneath them. Jenson Button has been trying hard, especially with a new-found confidence after his maiden win at the Hungaroring last year, but it just hasn't clicked yet. Many times has has struggled to get past the first part of qualifying, and only once has he made it into the top 10 shoot-out. Although he scored his first point of the season at France, things seemed to be back to normal in Britain with no quick-fix.

Rubens Barrichello is surely enduring his most testing season since his debut in 1993. He has never once looked like scoring points, and like team-mate Button, has only made the top ten shoot-out in qualifying once, in Monaco. But it has looked like he has had the upper hand on Button, usually out-qualifying and out-racing the Brit and doing the best of a bad job. There is a possibility that Rubinho could end up with his first pointless season in his F1 career.

Do you agree with this? Rate the team and have your say

You are being FAR too kind with some of these ratings! I've given them 1 out of 10, because frankly, they have done a pathetic job. What their livery is saying is that if we are as environmentally friendly as possible, we will trawl around near the back. And they have to stick with that livery forever otherwise they were just doing it for the publicity (although we knew that already).

I gave them a very generous 2 as they managed a point... If they had been beaten by Spyker drop to a 1... <huh>

There isn't a 0 out of 10 option....as such I had to be generous with my rating.

i was kind and gave them 2 though there are signs things are improving.
if you look at the performances at silverstone and jensons at magny bores they may now the 5th best team in f1.

which is why i have just backed them at 25/1 to finish 5th in the constructors championship............ <dunce>

they have a history of making major steps fowards during a season.
and have a stronger driver lineup than all the teams around them and possibly even two of the teams ahead of them imo.
all they need is the car improved slightly.

and nick fry is in charge.

what can possibly go wrong?

<roflmao>

How much did you back them with? <LOL>

3 out of ten for me. One for turning up, one for the point they scored in France and one for the recent changes in personnel that show they are at least trying to improve things.

In terms of drivers, Jenson has been poor in comparison to last season, losing to Barrichello in at least 75% of sessions, but he has scored the point so will point to that to justify his poor performance otherwise. he's had two good races-France and the USA, the rest have been lacklustre.

Barrichello's impressed me with his hunger in what is a very poor Honda. I didn't expect him to be outperforming Button so comprehensively, but he has proved me wrong and if this is the last year of his contract, Honda could do worse than to renew it.
