Actually Andy, it wasn't.
Just watching the programme on Motors TV now and it seems that Enge ran into the back of Salo under breaking. This resulted in a five minute penalty and the team decided that as this wasn't the first time it had happened, Enge had to go.

I thought Enge was a good driver when he raced in F3000, and done a solid job standing in for Burti at Prost at the end of 2001. But his drug penalty hit him hard and forced him to go down the Sportscar route.
I'm not sure how good or bad he performed in sportscars so far, but it does seem a bit odd firing a driver mid-race. Sounds like a heat of the moment decision

It was. As I recall, Enge has never been done for doing drugs.

You guys must be smoking some cannabis yourselves (If you've got it, break it out, share). Enge was stripped of his F3000 crown because of cannabis. He failed a test after Hungary, appealed and raced at Monza, and won the title. He lost it after his appeal failed.
In 2002, I lost my keys because of cannabis. I won the appeal after looking in the stash box.
