Title: Best F1 Magazine

Which do you feel is the best magazine for F1 coverage, in terms of race reports, insight, interviews, etc?

Well there isn't very many is there? so on that basis you have to go for F1 racing, always lots of features along with reports, previews etc.

Having said that the F1 section of autosport is very good quality in my opinion, Mark Hughes and Nigel Roebuck(spelling?) are both very good F1 experts and write quality stuff. I enjoy the arcticles that they write in each edition of autosport.

I get F1 by subscription but it takes a while to get here to the states. I like it for the photos mostly. I subscribe to Autosport digitally, so I get that straight away and that's my source for "right-now" info. I also subscribe to Race Car Engineering digitally. Not much F1 stuff, but a lot of tech info that crosses over to all types of racing.

As for web pages, I regularly read and contribute to F1 Technical.

f1 racing is the best, just a shame that is only out once a month. Some of the articles are very interesting and they are well balanced towards all drivers except Hamilton and Raikkonen.

I think the editorial line of F1 Racing is a little contentious - as you say, they are overly favourable towards Hamilton and Raikkonen, and in the past even I think they were a little too critical of Michael Schumacher (if such a thing is possible). As far as objective reporting goes, I think Autosprout is much better, but F1 Racing due to its nature as an entirely F1-based magazine does have the better features and articles.

F1 Racing for me has one problem. Peter Windsor. I don't like his writing. But it is better than Autosport. Autosport is more a news magazine, whereas F1 Racing is more interesting IMO. Could do with much better race reports though.

Yea they do talk quite alot of bollocks in the race reports

safc_fan89 - July 30, 2007 11:17 AM (GMT)
Windsor, not 'they'. I just don't like his attitude and some of his writing is mystifying. Such as criticising DC for saying that perhaps it was too early for Hamilton to have a top-line F1 seat. That's DC's opinion so I didn't see why Windsor should have commented as he did.

F1 Racing is the best but F1 News used to be better. Shame the editor died and the magazine followed suit... :(

So that's what happened to F1 News. I've still got loads of them in a box somewhere!

I've never heard of that magazine. When was it published?

My earliest issue is 1994, and I've got them up until around 1999.

Yeah it was quite sad... even after the editor died they tried to keep it going by relaunching it a couple of times. In the end (2002) it had been revamped and reduced to only £1.99... but by half way through the season it had been dumped. :(

Shame that there's no other commercially available F1 magazines these days apart from the Haymarket ones.

BusinessF1 is actually the best there is, but it's subscriber only and works out at £25 per issue. <blink>

Autosport.com is the best F1 media effort by far.
