Description: All about the Riffs!
Shadow Stu-E - August 5, 2007 10:57 AM (GMT)
hey i was hoping it would be ok if i opened up a discussion about the wonderful world of metal music, there arent many decent forums on this on the web and the ones that are there seem to be full of people who want to discuss what axl rose should do...
i hope Metallica's new album comes out soon. i'm Looking forward to it as it is being produced by none other than Rick Rubin himself(of System Of A Down and Slayer fame).
GV Legend - August 17, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
i figured this would be the best place to post this, does anybody else watch metalocalypse? and if so do you have any idea where i could get hold of the music played over the end credits of the episode "the metalocalypse has begun"?
Shadow Stu-E - August 18, 2007 06:40 AM (GMT)
i have heard about the show but never seen it, i only have basic foxtel (pay tv). i think the song you are thinking of is by Dethklok.

Im pretty sure thunderhorse is the track on Gheroes, although the lyrics are a bit lacking the guitar work sounds great again.
Shadow Stu-E - August 20, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
yeah, i dont mind the track, but its a little heavy for my tastes at the moment. i go in and out of phases easily :D

SWEET <dance>
We need more music chat here. lol
Andy - December 17, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
Much more music chat LOL ! I am just jealous that I been to Manc some 15 years too early. Well it was Bolton but we spent the most time in Manc <beer>
I remember this pretty good coz I bought some limited edition singles of Maidens "A Real Live One" release at the I think it was wham or whom ...not sure...
I am a metal fan since i was about 7 when my neighbours nephew (a year older) made me listen to Maidens Number Of The Beast. LOL - At the time, about 1985, my grandpa still had his little private beershop so we two (neighbours nephew and I) got 2 beers each and went outta village with a cassette recorder . I dont know where from but he brought said tape with him . Since then I am a metalhead.
A couple years later neighbours nephew came to neighbours 50th anniversary. but instead of having fun at the party he came over and we did our own while watching the Freddy Mercury Live Aid from Wembley.
being 30 now , I still love to listen to acts like Maiden,Priest,Demon,Motörhead,Kiss,Helloween,Cannon................and way older hardrock stuff <beer>
<wave> <clap> <pissed>

Want to trade lives!!!!!!!!!!
I am a massive fan of the music manchester was producing in the 80's and early 90's. Unfortunately being born in 1986 kind of limited my ability to see the giants of that era play live, the closest i have got is seeing tribute bands of the roses, joy division, the smiths and the like at the manchester academy, all very good gigs but i doubt they would compare to seeing the real bands live.
Although i have to admit the metal bands coming to manchester at the moment are more than enough to keep my wallet occupied.
BTW any of you guys nightwish fans - and if so have you seen the new line up live, they are coming to manc and i am trying to decide weather to go, having heard the new album i dont particularly like the new singers sound which is putting me off!
Shadow Stu-E - December 20, 2007 10:21 AM (GMT)
Nightwish are ok. i prefer Within Temptation or Evanescence though.
umm i would go see them, despite the new singer. maybe she can put a new twist on some of the older songs <thumbsup>

My only problem is that tarja(sp) was very much nightwish me, the operatic style made them very unique - the new singer is very much a main stream pop style voice (they now sound much more like the likes of evanesance).
Im just worried that the old songs wont work with the voice that you hear on the new album.
Although as a band i would still love to see them so i think that will probably sway me

hmmm <think> I think this one could go either way. maybe her voice and style may bring something new and interesting to the old songs, or she could just butcher them, maybe they may only do the new stuff? you never know.
Arch Enemy.. now theres a female who can sing <peek>

Shadow Stu-E - December 24, 2007 08:40 AM (GMT)
yeah but Doro isn't too bad. arch enemy's lead singer.. (forgot her name .. <blush> ) looks very crazy when she is singing.. if you want a good looking girl in'metal.. there's the girl in the band sigh or the lead singer of Walls Of Jericho. :D
Andy - December 24, 2007 11:32 AM (GMT)
Walls Of Jericho ..... sounds like a Helloween cover band <think> <clap>

not to me they dont. <think>
i always thought they were more of a thrash influence then speed metal..
if u listen to "there's no I in F*** you" they are more harcore/thrash. oh well
<peek> that's my two cents
IMO i think Dragonforce are more a Helloween cover band than WOJ

Walls of Jericho are quite fun. Defined a generic sound quite nicely.
Search for a young Sheffield band called Rolo Tomassi. Their singer was 15 when I first put them on in Leeds. Her voice is inhuman!

is it dark passion play you have got, or an earlyer album. There has been a considerable sound shift in the making of dark passion play and there in lies my dilema. i dont want to go and hear all the old songs butchered!

Today's random fact:
I share my birthday with Tarja. This further re-iterates the fact that cool people are born on my birthday (see also Nelson Piquet and Robert deNiro for other examples)
