Title: Good Luck Someone!

The STIG - August 17, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
She's going to hate me for this, But...

You may or may not be aware that our very own UK motorsport host is a very keen motorsport enthusiast, and that she will be taking to the grid for the very first time tomorrow at Silverstone's 750MC meeting in Formula Vee. I'd just like to take this opportunity to wish Someone the very best of luck, and I do hope to hear reports of a successfull finish soon.

Mrs Shrek - August 17, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
<thumbsup> Goodluck someone, and all the best for tomorrow :D

PiquetFan - August 17, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
All the best, someone <thumbsup>

wickedwitch - August 17, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
Someone, my advice for tomorrow: take it easy, but TAKE IT.

Don't do anything daft (as if you would), watch for the flags, and more importantly ENJOY YOURSELF!

Full race report awaited with great interest!

Grandslammer - August 17, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
Best of luck someone,I'll give you a <wave>

I am impressed with your progress, someone. Tell us your story when you get a chance. And, I envy you.

Oh you.................damn, I'll be in trouble if I dodge the autocensor! <blush>

I will post a bit of news shortly, currently relaxing with a glass of wine! But yes I finished.

Right the short version:

- qualifying, hated it, damp and oil down in a couple of corners. Half spin on the first lap but otherwise ok.
- Car - very difficult as it doesn't talk to you at all, really no feedback so took everything pretty gingerly
- Circuit - not too bad, struggled with one corner [Brooklands] which mucks up subsequent corners and therefore loses you quite a lot of time. In the race ran wide on exit of Brooklands and had a run through the gravel trap before rejoining between Luffield and Woodcote
- Good points - best lap was 3 secs quicker in the race than I was in qualifying
- Qualifying position - 3rd from back in the heat
- Finish position - 31st out of 36 starters

Thanks to all for their best wishes!

Grandslammer - where were you? I tried to wave to all marshals after the chequered flag!

Paul_Murtagh - August 19, 2007 12:05 PM (GMT)
Hope you enjoyed your racing adventure Someone <thumbsup>

Hi someone, only got back this evening <sleep> .
Well done on your drive,at least you missed the rain <grrr>
I was flagging at Becketts (in) and made sure I gave you a wave <thumbsup>
Today,I was observing at Copse exit and had a quieter day <thumbsup>

someone - August 19, 2007 09:38 PM (GMT)
I found the rain in post race scrutes! How's the chap from the 750 Formula accident at Copse? Was a nasty impact to hear and he couldn't walk properly.

I hope I waved to you?! I tried very hard to wave to all marshals including those not paying attention!

Shadowman - August 19, 2007 09:46 PM (GMT)
You didn't wave to me.....and I'm a Marshal! <no>

someone - August 19, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)

At no point on the Sunday did I wave any flags apart from a green or a yellow.

The only black flag we did display was a black/orange for a dragging undertray and for that one I was holding the number board.
