Title: Why do vegetarians eat fake meat?
Steelstallions - August 28, 2007 11:27 AM (GMT)
I can understand a meat eater converting to vegetarian food salavating for a meat based meal. So tofu with obscure spices in some way satisfys that hunger pang for meat like a nicotine patch for smokers.
But for vegetarians who havent eaten meat in years, whats the point of having fake meat products? Doesnt that just prove you would sooner have a steak with all the excellent salad and vegetables you can cook up?
On a night out, I had a similar conversation with a lesbian i work with............which proves the point never drink in excess when socialising with workmates <roflmao>
She did find it funny, more so as she reminded me at work after i had forgot all about it.

I've asked this question to a couple of veggies in the past. The usual reaction is that they like the taste, but don't agree with the wheres and hows of the 'genuine' article. Still doesn't answer the question fully in my mind... surely if you didn't like the idea of guns you wouldn't have a replica AK-47 on the mantelpiece?

It's for parttime veggies that don't have the will power to live without the taste of meat.

I bet these fake meats don't taste anywhere near as good as the real thing. I once tried turkey rashers as an alternative to bacon (I wasn't avoiding bacon, we had run out) and it wasn't the same.

Well if its made by vegetarians how do they do the taste test? ;)
Seriously though, the fake meat products are a waste of time
They are either so seasoned they give you indigestion for an afternoon, and when not disguised with a lethal cocktail of erupting herbs, have the texture of chewing hard cheese skin
As i said, eat the real stuff or don't bother. And as for those vegetarians who eat their own placenta after giving birth

The point of fake me is that it is.....well fake!
Veggies are not people who dont want to enjoy the taste that meat has, they just dont want to eat the flesh of dead animals
