Title: Maranello
Description: Anybody been?

I'm off to Italy in October and the Father and I are going to travel to Maranello for the day. We went many years ago when I was about 10 but we can't remember the town well. Does anyone have any tips on things to see or do? I remember lots of shops full of mint stuff, the green gates, a museum and the gates to Fiorano. Is it true that there is a bridge which overlooks the circuit? Any help greatly appreciated!

The first thing you see on your way into town, even before the fabled Maranello sign, is an unremarkable bridge. Fiorano sits behind a green mesh fence to the right of the bridge. This is the unofficial viewing gallery where Tifosi have gathered for decades, since it is the best vantage point.

As one continues into town for about a mile, the famous Ferrari factory entrance is on the left, a prosaic brick building that is the portal to dreams. Just opposite is the Cavallino restaurant, where Enzo Ferrari, the fastidious Commendatore, used to eat his lunch.

Less than five minutes’ walk away is the Galleria Ferrari, a museum displaying Ferraris past and present. It contains such gems as the 312T2 and the F2000, as well as a re-creation of Enzo Ferrari’s office. There is merchandise to buy, of course, from both the museum shop and the official Ferrari store.

Hope it's of use to find the bridge at least <thumbsup>

I've been to that part of Italy but not to Maranello. After your visit, let us know how things went. I might like to go myself. I'll be in Europe next summer, and I'm looking for things to do.

I'm off in a week! Just getting this part of the holiday sorted, working out how to get there and which day will be best for it. Photos of me looking smug around various historic sites to follow...!

think.gif, how about this for a daft idea:

You have seen the scenario were a garden ornement is kidnapped and the owner gets photos of it on holiday at world landmarks.

How about we have a unique PITLANE wallpaper to print on A4 paper and we take snaps were ever we are in the world holding the picture in front of our face. Pitlane pics from all major landmarks of the world?

The posters identity is secret, but if someone does a image search of Pitlane, you would find a load of pictures of world landmarks with an Advert for this site. yahoo.gif

Send me an image and I'll do it! I'll take it to Monaco with me for next year's Grand Prix Historique and the Race of Champions at Wembley! Give it a celebrity motorsport tour!

The second one features the Ferrari F2000 as well. It's a done deal!
