Title: Cadwell
Description: Toselands Comments
LordFogarty - August 30, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)
:) While I enjoyed the races at Cadwell Park I was dismayed by James Toselands comments regarding the track as dangerous & the mountain section should be changed <roflmao> .
Toseland has never been a fan of Cadwell Park but always goes to the Superbike meeting held there each year he claims Superbikes are now too fast for the track I bet the track hosts loved that statement on live TV Cadwell has always been a tricky circuit it should stay as it is there have been far too many changes already I welcome your comments on this & the meeting in general regards LordForgarty :D

Never been to Cadwell and not a follower of bikes to any extent,so can't make any worthwhile comments, sorry <blush>
Just seen the Camier leg breaking crash on Youtube <yikes>

Cadwell is a wonderful circuit. However Mr Toseland is quite correct - it is very dangerous, even for cars!
I can see why the bikes wouldn't like the mountain, since even the heaviest racing car takes off there (I don't do bikes see, so I can only relate to the cars). I magine the situation on a motorcycle, especially a big and powerfull one like a superbike, is a rather lairy one!
Still, it's their choice, they either make it too safe and loose the spectacle for everyone else, continue, or don't.

From what I remember, there hasn't been a car race from a major national championship at cadwell for nearly 20 years.

welcome to the forum LordFoggy..... <wave>
i agree with your sentiments regarding cadwell to some degree but there is definitely a case for both sides of the argument......
For...
change the track and lose the spectacle that is "the mountain"... <thumbsdown>
Against...
do not change the track and lose a life.... mega <thumbsdown>
<think>
even 600's are getting to the point where its "too much" for cadwell...very sad but thats the price of progress....
what does need to be done is to change it enough now before the powers that be deem the track too dangerous and drop it off the calender.then that means no races at all, never mind one on a circuit which has been emasculated...
<think>

Define Major?
It's certainly true that British Touring cars (who delight in causing carnage), British F3s and GTs won't visit Cadwell. However there is still a lot of car racing which goes on there.

<wave> A belated hello to LordFoggy.
Leon Camiers accident was in part to do with the jump, I don't think it would have happened at a more "normal" track.
There's been a lot of crashes in BSB recently, some with tragic consquences, and whilst we don't want to lose the great tracks Most of these tracks just weren't designed with these machines in mind.
JT probably can't help thinking that the BSB bikes, which are as good as and maybe better than the WSB bikes race at tracks that the WSB machines would never race at.

<wave> Thanks for the warm welcome
Some valid comments so far but didn,t Toseland
break his leg at Cadwell Park riding Superbikes?
I,m a big fan of Cadwell Park so I,m a bit biased
I am also a little miffed at all the changes going on
there at the moment but hey changes happen times move
on! <thumbsup> Foggy

Yeah JT had a very nasty crash at Cadwell in his year in BSB. His leg was broken in 3 places, put him out for the rest of the season. <yikes>
No wonder he's not too keen on the place!

Just out of interest, how do BSB bikes compare to Moto GP bikes? Pretty irrelevant comparison I know, but I'd like to know :)
I watched the Cadwell Park races last season and it does look a dangerous track, but a good track as well. Totally different from anything else on the calendar.

Erm, BSB 1000cc, road based, 200ish bhp
MotoGP 800cc, prototype chassis, not sure on bhp, probably about the same.
MotoGP bike will be significantly lighter and smaller due to being purpose-built from exotic materials whereas the BSB bike has to be based on a production road bike, so they go/stop/handle better.....
