Title: Motocycle Racers All Time Top Riders
ppparkinson9 - September 7, 2007 01:37 PM (GMT)
Motorcycle Racer has reached 100 issues which is pretty amazing for a bike racing magazine.
They've done a few features to celebrate including their top 100 riders.
There is some rubbish in there such as Troy Corser ahead of Randy Mamola, Nori Haga and James Toseland to name a few.
This is the top 20:
20. Kork Ballington (4 time 250cc Champion)
19.John Kocinski (WSB Champion, 250cc Champion and 500gp Winner)
18.Carlo Ubbiali (5 time 125 anc 3 time 250 champion)
17.Carl Fogarty (4 time WSB Champion)
16.Max Biaggi (4 time 250 champion and 500/MotoGP and WSB race winner)
15.Wayne Rainey (3 time 500cc champion)
14.Kenny Roberts, Senior (3 time 500cc champion and 2 time AMA champion)
13.Geoff Duke (4 time 500cc and 2 time 350 champion)
12.Barry Sheene (2 time 500cc Champion)
11.Jarno Saarinen (250cc champion and 500cc race winner)
10.Freddie Spencer (250cc champion and 2 time 500cc champion)
9. Jim Redman (250 champion and 4 time 350cc champion)
7. Eddie Lawson (4 time 500cc champion)
6. Michael Doohan (5 time 500cc champion)
5. John Surtees (3 time 350cc and 4 time 500cc champion)
4. Angel Nieto (6 time 50cc and 7 time 125cc champion)
3. Mike Hailwood (3 time 250, 2 time 350 and 4 time 500cc champion)
2. Valentino Rossi
1. Giacomo Agostini (7 time 350 champion and 8 time 500cc champion)
I wouldn't say I agree entirely with it but its pretty reasonable I think.

Always the way with these things. You'l never get a top 100 that everyone agrees on
I was pleasantly surprised that Rossi wasn't No. 1 though :)
