Title: ITV are ignorant sods!!
Norbert - September 8, 2007 12:43 PM (GMT)
Not only is the rugby on ITV instead of quali, fair enough it IS the world cup, but on it, ON ITV - not even a rival channel - Jim @rsehole Rosenthal has just announced the current standings!!! How bloody inconsiderate can you get???????
<kaboom>
Norbert - September 8, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
Just submitted to the ITV duty office... I expect a politically correct 'sod off and stop bothering us' to come back if anything at all!
"I am exceptionally aggrieved with your treatment of those people who would like to watch the qualifying for this weekend's Grand Prix. Not unsurprisingly this transmission is scheduled to be late tonight to make space for the Rugby World Cup. While this is rather irritating, I also like to watch Rugby, and I can understand that such an event will proably have a greater audience.
However, as you ARE broadcasting this qualifying session, you have totally RUINED it for any would-be watchers because one of your announcers seems quite happy to tell everyone what is happening.
Do you have NO consideration whatsoever for F1 fans, or is this just sherr bloody-mindedness?
I would hope to see an apology written on your website, and/or aired on the current rugby broadcast because quite frankly if you can't watch one event without fearing finding out the result of an as yet unseen one, the you might as well not bother switching the television on in the frst place!"

It's ITV. They care about money. Nothing else.
Alien_SAP_Fiend - September 8, 2007 01:07 PM (GMT)
LOL "you can enjoy that later on ITV"
What a tit!!!
dcoulthard19 - September 8, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
Grim Rosenthal at his best <roflmao> <roflmao>
Norbert - September 8, 2007 01:10 PM (GMT)
THEY'VE DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom> <kaboom>

"Further to my previous comments about the stupidity and ignorance of announcing the status of the qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix tomorrow, notwithstanding the fact that many watchers of the Rugby would also wish to watch the tape delayed qualifying later this evening, you have just announced FURTHER results from said session.
This is shamefully inconsiderate, and I shall not be watch another match in this World Cup.
I doubt you really care about the interests of your viewers, but if you did, the courtesy of at least a warning before doing so in future would no doubt endear yourselves to those who watch the adverts which fund your company!"
Reply? Nah, not likely!

What does Jon Champion know about rugby? I thought Setanta had 'nabbed' him anyway.

I can't really argue with that :)

if you think that is bad...........
When SPEED TV are showing F1 races, ESPN ignore the F1 results
but in the 4 races that ABC aired this season....ESPN continually announced the results in shows and on the scrolling ticker at the bottom

It was the first time in quite a few years that i watched i wasnt nervous/worried. When i saw DC parked at the side of the road i wasnt even to bothered because i knew they couldnt get points anyway, shows what ITv4 does to you <LOL>
Speedworx - September 8, 2007 09:02 PM (GMT)
Qual was shown on ITV4.
I pitty you if you can't afford digitial tv. You had better find the money before the analogue signel is switched off.
ITV did nothing wrong. If you chose the rugby over F1 on ITV4, thats your mistake, not theirs.

Very handy for those who can't watch ITV4. Which I have discovered is viewable on ITVs site. Trouble is, that doesn't help those who decided to watch the rugby and/or didn't know. The least they could have done is said "we're going to tell you/show you" and let people hit mute or walk out the room!!

Don't be so bloody condescending!
I CHOSE to watch the rugby partly because I wanted to watch the rugby, and also because I knew I could watch the quali later. I did NOT expect a TV company to be so utterly inconsiderate as to inform several million people without warning the result of a sporting event that was going to appear on the SAME channel later in the day. That is NOT my fault. Am I supposed to NOT watch anything else just in case they might be so stupid?
As for being able to afford stuff, don't make me bloody laugh! I also pity your spelling with a single t.

I got two, from the same account. One was different to the other, and the second complaint was processed before the first. In response to the first, I got something which seems to have come from a human being and says that people further up the food chain will be sent the comments. The other one is merely a 'thanks, we'll pass it on' note. I suspect that the incoming comments are read by a human, and either given the standard gubbins and ignored, or given the slightly more detail reply, then ignored.....

Maybe they should include the word "*Spoiler*" before they start the programme? <roflmao>
Norbert - September 8, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
All it takes is a couple of words, like 'F1 fans cover your ears'.... is that SO much to ask?

<thumbsdown> Its a pity some folk don,t have ITV4
and they have to watch at some later hour 11.30pm ?
Why did ITV want F1 if they did not want to show it on
their main channel? <thumbsdown> Rugby should be
on ITV4 F1 on ITV3 where it belongs <thumbsup>
Norbert - September 8, 2007 10:01 PM (GMT)
The point is that people who HAD ITV4 may well have been watching the rugby anyway because they knew they could watch quali later!
ITV = <dunce>

of course you are, you wouldnt expect Ferrari to win a championship fairly now would you.
Norbert - September 8, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
It would be good if they *lost* it fairly too.....!

and it is good that they are losing it fairly this season.....a great season indeed!
Norbert - September 8, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
So you know for absolute certain that none of the information in the Ferrari documents was used to influnce the design of their car despite it being linked to various members of the team including the drivers? I guess the document and all the correspondance were planted by Ferrari?
<roflmao>
The Saint - September 8, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
The car has too many FUNDAMENTAL design differences to be a copy
the two cars are poles apart.....and one of them is on pole tomorrow!
oh and
<roflmao>
Norbert - September 8, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
You've COMPLETELY missed the point. If you have data on another team, you don't copy their car, you work out how it works, how their thinking works, what the strengths and weaknesses are and how to beat them. I've never implied that they've COPIED the Ferrari - that really would be a stupid thing for them to do, but anyone thinking that the data can't be used to some sort of advantage WITHOUT copying any of the designs is quite simply naive!
The Saint - September 9, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
i get what you are saying but I don’t get how that theory works in practice
how does knowing their weak spots help
If Mclaren knew all the Italians weak points, why have we not seen results of that? Like passing for instance…..
Can you identify ways in which you suspect Mclaren have gained an advantage over Ferrari by knowing any weak spots or vulnerabilities?
I will cede to you point if you can highlight to me where McLaren gained advantage, but you would never agree with something I said, just because I said it. So how do you expect me to agree with you/ to change my opinion, without something conclusive?
Conclusive to me is penalizing someone for giving someone else bad air, even though the guilty person was never near the poor recipient of bad air behind.
I will admit that you may be correct saying that Mclaren have figured out how to beat Ferrari - by going faster.
Regardless of all this Stepney shit, I hope we all enjoy the ON TRACK action for the remainder of the year.
ANYWAY
Im off to wacth THE WORLD TRADE CENTER on Showtime - I never saw the movie when it was on the pics, so a glass of wine and a nuggle with my dog, wife with a good movie is what is left this evening for me.

Apparently ITV didn't show the race in Wales AT ALL, they had the SAME rugby match on ITV1 AND ITV4 <roflmao>
The BBC picked up on it in theit text commentary... what a complete joke.
Startline Ed - September 9, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
This may be one of the good points about the UK going fully digital, we won't need to worry about the two tier system. Unless you appear to be watching ITV Wales.

However, the ITV website streams all their four channels. I assume the 'normal' terrestrial channel (ITV 1) would have been streamed.....? I don't know if there's a choice somewhere else to get ITV Wales.

I tried to stream ITV1 just out of curiosity during the race. It wouldn't let me.
