Dear fellow members

As you may be aware, there were two incidents last week in which a large number of posts were removed and/or edited. This affected a number of innocent posters, but the action was taken in order to ensure that posts remained within the board's guidelines. More importantly, we believe strongly in maintaining a pleasant atmosphere for all of the members.

At the centre of the two incidents there were a number of personal attacks and unacceptable content in several of the posts by The Saint. These were the subject of complaints from other members. Both during and after this incident, the staff members conferred at great length about how to resolve the issues that arose, and The Saint's behaviour has naturally been at the centre of these discussions. His previous form on this board - which include being given a raised warning level, and continued protestations of contrition that were followed by bad behaviour were further matters that arose as part of these discussions. A vote was conducted on the discipline which should be applied to The Saint, resulting in an overwhelming majority for an immediate ban from The Pit Lane.

Discussion will now turn to the other members involved in these incidents, and appropriate action will be taken where necessary.

We would like to remind members that freedom of speech is a fundamental part of this board, and as such no unreasonable post, question, or criticism will be moderated. However, personal abuse, profanity, racism etc. have no place on this board and any member abusing it in such a way will be liable to disciplinary measures. Other people have a right to be happy on this board, and it belongs to all our members.
