Title: Hamilton garbage

safc_fan89 - September 17, 2007 08:18 AM (GMT)
Some quotes from the Mirror today...

'The Spaniard made the offer knowing he is earning more than 50 times what young sensation Hamilton is pulling in for beating him'

'was sent careering across a strip of grass and into the runoff area' (it was astroturf I believe, and what is runoff for? So you can run off onto it, believe it or not!)

'Only Hamilton's remarkable talent and nerve kept him in the game' (after the first corner. Total bullsh*t). Yes, remarkable talent means he can press his foot down <doh>

'precociously talented'

And people wonder why I'm sick of Hamilton and all the OTT press. Clearly in order to write sports reports for rags like the Mirror, you just need to shove your you know what up the rear of anyone British.

I'm amazed that a Mirror journalist would know what 'precocious' means. Or how to use a thesaurus.

So rather than support a home talent with a great skill... you give in to media...

when will you learn that if any British driver shows any kind of talent on track then he will be big'ed up... Hamilton actually delivers on the hype so gets hyped even more... this is hardly his fault. and to not support him for those reasons is a bit like cutting off your own nose just to spite your face.

safc_fan89 - September 17, 2007 08:42 AM (GMT)
Not really. I don't follow the crowd. I am fed up of seeing his face everywhere, then reading this type of drivel about him.

I don't support someone because of their nationality, but for their talent and character. Hamilton is becoming less and less likeable, in my opinion. The double standards he talks about with Alonso is double standards itself really.

Are we talking about the first lap or the penultimate one here? Because the second time he showed he could leave the track all on his own without any outside assistance....

safc_fan89 - September 17, 2007 08:56 AM (GMT)
First lap. Naturally they didn't mention the penultimate lap incident. Because that wouldn't make him look such a precocious talent.

People moan endlessly about the papers but yet they still go out and buy them.

<wtf>

If you don't like what the papers say then don't read them.

However having talked to a couple of paper with knowledge of the newspaper industry what I have learnt is that journalist write reasonable arcticles and then it gets sent to editors and completeley changed in order to "sex" the arcticles up as one person put it.

Contraversial and stupid arcticles apparently sell better than the ones which are informative and factually correct and people wonder why I take no interest in papers..

As for Hamilton being on the front of everything thats to be expected, he isn't the only sports car that been sponsored by banks and the like. I remember people like Wilkinson and Beckham being everywhere, thats the way the sporting world works these days.

If you don't read you can't discuss, can you...in the same way that all those anti-F1 fans still know the result to every race, and that it was boring! How?

As a *possibly fictional* tabloid journalist wrote on my site, "Lewis finished a heroic fourth in Belgium after three other drivers unsportingly decided to drive faster than him."

but the newspaper isn't the only source of information plus we can come up with much better opinions than them anyway.

I have survived without reading a paper all my life and find lots of things to talk about here.

When I start topics I always try and make sure it isn't from a paper source, not always easy as some of the main F1 websites quote alot from them like Planet F1 for example. So I will try and come up with my own thing.

Red Andy - September 17, 2007 09:37 AM (GMT)
I just tend to avoid the F1 stories in the newspapers when I read them, for two principal reasons:

a) Chances are I already know the story from on here,
b) They are usually written with a bias even F1 Racing would be ashamed of.

Also I am allergic to tabloids, so I tend not to go anywhere near the worst offenders.

In my case - by watching the race...

I didn't watch the Belgian GP because I was busy elsewhere. I don't know the event, so I can't say if it was boring or not.

Incidentally I've disliked Hamilton ever since he started the season. and not because of all the hype either. Poor little rich boy.

In fairness he has a relationship with the Mclaren team that no other driver has experienced before... he is a rookie F1 driver but has been involved with the team for many years a lot of them when he was at his most impressionable.

So naturally he will feel at one with the team he has been groomed for... he is also a young lad prone to speak his mind without thinking (or caring) how it might be perceived by others.

For all those out there who have taken a dislike to Hamiltion for what ever reason, my find they will be in for a lot of disappointment in the coming years.

That just shows the loyalty he has to McLaren and how grateful he is to them for giving him a chance to live out his dream. OK, he does come across as a bit cheesy with it, but he is still in the honeymoon period.

to be honest, I think it shows the humility of the guy. He's not there to say 'I'm doing it all myself' he's saying that without the team he would be nowhere
