Title: Bishop to join McLaren

Grandprix.com - Bishop to join McLaren

Matt Bishop, the editor in chief of F1 Racing magazine, and the editorial director of Haymarket Motorsport Ltd has resigned his position and will be leaving the company in December. Bishop will start work as Group Head of Communications and Public Relations at McLaren on January 2 next year. It is the third major loss for Haymarket in recent weeks with the news that longtime F1 reporter Nigel Roebuck is leaving Autosport magazine to join Motorsport along with Autosport's Editor in Chief Damien Smith.

Will this affect either F1 Racing or the media relations within McLaren? It has been said in various corners that Bishop can be biased towards certain drivers, so is this the type of person McLaren would want as their Group Head of Communications?

Reading some of the stuff recently, one got the impression that a few guys were doing a PR job for McLaren anyways :P
Andrew Davies of PlanetF1 must be devastated <roflmao>

I figured McLaren were going after a Catholic Bishop, maybe trying to steal that Papal support for Ferrari....

It will affect F1 Racing...it might become more readable! The last few issues in particular have been very poor.

I lost all respect for Bishop after his scathing attack on Ralf, he is in no position to tell an f1 driver who he constantly and predictably slags despite winning a half dozen races and beaten many of his teamates such as Trulli ,Button and Montoya, to "**** off" shows how full of himself he is. The "Bish" will be a big fat failure. (excuse the pun)

Maybe F1 Racing will stop trying to blame everything on Michael Schumacher now. :P

I thought he was already working for McLaren, now this has happened Peter Windsor can go become Ferrari's PR man.

Ralf deserves everything he gets.

In the latest issue of F1 Racing (Bishop's last as editor), he describes McLaren in his editorial as the "best team in F1".

A laughable statement, and one that proves he will fit right in at the grey, corporate, PR world that is MM.

F1 racing will be a lot better without him IMO.
