Title: Random Spanish Hamilton Videos

Lord Tau - October 15, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
After Hamilton's retirement in China, there's been a spate of odd videos about it - many of which originate in Spain.

Here's the moment that he retired as caught by Spanish TV: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=asb3GPxGnwQ

Here's some odd and different ones:

Maybe San Ganchao is their version of Murray Walker or James Allen? <roflmao>

Done a bit more digging around and found this:

http://72.30.186.56/babelfish/translate_ur...puzolana.com%2f

I've seen quite a few references to "San Ganchao in the Puzolana". Looking up "puzolana", I find this: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puzolana

Which translates to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozzolana

Confused? I am!!

EDIT: upon further rooting around, I've discovered that there was a San Ganchao Spanish Wikipedia article, but it was deleted. http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/t...26action%3dedit

I think you should just start a thread like who is "San Ganchao in the Puzolana", as in the Spanish F1 media he's turning up all over the place.

Anyone who watches Spanish sports coverage regularly can attest to the somewhat partisan and excitable nature of the commentary!
What the commentator was tring to say was "Se han ganchado en la puzolana" - which is Spanish slang for "He's hooked himself on the grit" or, a closer English equivalent, "He's beached himself on the gravel".
But his tongue couldn't keep up - a Spanish Murray Walker? Whatever next?
Now - although it might be slightly incredulous to those who've been following the media reports, both in the UK and Spain, on the Ron/Fernando/Lewis saga - some Spanish F1 fans do actually have a sense of humour, and so have invented San Ganchao to help their beloved Asturiano.
So, a liberal translation of the following prayer to San Ganchao (see http://www.forocoches.com/foro/showthread.php?t=747423) would be:

San Ganchao who art in Brazil,
Hallowed be thy miracles.
Thy gravel trap come,
Our will be done
In the boxes as on the circuit.
Give us on the 21st victory to Alonso.
Forgive us the early morning photos of Iker (Castillas)
As FIA forgives Hamiltroll
And don't let the black S.O.B. pull any tricks.

P.S. - I've seen one ealy morning sports paper in Spain that says McLaren, at Mercedes' bidding, have agreed to let Alonso go at the end of this season, effectively on a "free transfer". I haven't been able to verify that yet. Anyone know more?

P.P.S. LEWIS FOR WDC!!! <thumbsup>
