Title: Nigel Mansell overtaking move of the year award
dcoulthard19 - October 23, 2007 07:20 PM (GMT)
Lets get this glamorous ceremony under way.
Pick the best move of the year and discuss your choices.
You can only pick one.

Where's Coulthard on Wurz (Aus)??
<roflmao>
dcoulthard19 - October 23, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
That will be in the cocked up moves section <no>
ELUSIVEJIM - October 23, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
The one i want to vote for is not there <thumbsdown>
Massa and Kubica at Fuji is my choice <thumbsup>
safc_fan89 - October 23, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
That was more bashing into one another than actual overtaking.
dcoulthard19 - October 23, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
Which is why I didn't include it although it was great fun to watch. :)

I agree. However, in the end, was it actually a passing move - I forget who was ahead before all the comedy started!

I want to vote for Massa on Kubica, then Kubica on Massa, then...

I went for DC on Fisichella. Coming from that far back defies belief.
Red Andy - October 24, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
Especially as a near-identical move from DC had all gone horribly wrong just a few weeks before....

I second that. It was a great move

Alonso's on Heidfeld at Magny cours was the pass of the year for me, all the others although excellent were in conventional parts of the tracks, but Alonso showed bravery, intelligence and a bit of madness with his move. With the way the cars are nowadays i couldnt believe he could get so close out of the hairpin
AndyW76 - October 26, 2007 09:56 AM (GMT)
It's a tough on, Alonso on Massa at Nurburgring was a classic but so was Hamilton on Kimi at Monza. Anyone remember Hamiltons double pass on both Ferrari's at the first corner in Sepang for me that was the cheekiest move of the year.
safc_fan89 - October 26, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
I don't class first corner moves as overtakes. If so, then Alonso on Hamilton into Eau Rouge should be on the list. How about a category for best startline move, ior just best start?
dcoulthard19 - October 26, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
There will be a best start category, there are still a few more I plan to put up.

Cock-up of the year? Botched overtake of the year? That sort of thing? :D

I think we all know who would win that.
safc_fan89 - October 26, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
Well, after Brazil there are a few more candidates ;)
vikki - October 28, 2007 12:50 PM (GMT)
hammys move on kimi was great especially since we all thought overtaking in the italian gp had been banned years ago. <clap>
but i voted for kimis overtake on dc in the wet in fuji.
brought back memories of alesi for me.
(for younger board members jean alesi was a ferrari racing driver who used to pull off brillant overtaking moves in the first 20 or so laps of a grand prix before his car broke down)

Or before he ignored Flav and ran out of fuel :D
