Would have to say Mclaren as you would have thought it would take a few seasons after 2005-2006 for them to challenge Ferrari and Renault

Has to be BMW Sauber. The leaps forward they have made in each of the past two years have been nothing short of astounding.

I wonder what Frank Williams thinks of all that success?

Williams plan to be at least level with BMW next season, so not much I would have thought. Williams have won races before ;)

I voted BMW.Sauber... naturally you may say but not unjustified I think...

However if the season had been 20 races long other teams like Williams and Red Bull would have close up...

I as a BMW fan am more than pleased with their season...(3rd is better than they hoped for) I said at the start of the season I would be surprised if they had a win and sadly they didn't...

I am more concerned that after a promising first half they never closed the gap to the top two and so will need something special next season...

I was also a bit cheesed off at BMW letting Vettel and Glock go... I just hope Vettel is on a long lease.

BMW are my choice, but Williams did a pretty good job too, compared to where they were last year.

Not since BMW left, they haven't. ;)

Telling BMW to sod off was the biggest mistake of Frank's tenure at the team. And this is the guy who fired Mansell...

But then again... neither has BMW <cry>

I would go for BMW Sauber over Williams. They managed to make a huge step in performance and unlike Williams both their drivers performed well over the whole season. But I don't want to take anything away from Williams they improved alot this season

Super Aguri, from nothing to near joke to points scoring, to passing a McLaren in less than 2 years.

Mclaren even although they did use ferrari's info they still used it to good effect and produced a great car which was unbelievably reliable the complete opposite of the MP4-21

I disagree. I doubt Williams would exist as Williams now if BMW were still there. I think it's good that someone actually stands up to the manufacturers. And you don't like manufacturers being in F1...

Red Andy - October 28, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
Indeed I do not, but I think that you have to be realistic about it. Frank doesn't stand a chance of competing with the manufacturers unless he forms a close bond with one, especially if the rules outlined in the "Framework for Discussion" for 2011 come into force. That was a bond he could have developed with BMW but chose not to.

BMW's offer was to help with chassis development, nothing more. I think they would eventually have taken the team over entirely, but probably not until after Frank had retired. I don't think we would have seen a sudden transition of power as we did when BMW bought out Sauber. It would have been a gradual process like BAR and Honda.

Williams closely followed by Super Aguri
