But, the 12hr nightshift then becomes a 13hr nightshift!

Hi WW Same here in Latvia. It will be dark at 1900 now.
flood1 - October 28, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
We roll our clocks back next weekend.
Shadowman - October 28, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
Ah! Mr Flood, you may have just answered a question there for me!
Next Saturday afternoon, all being well, I will land at Orlando Airport.
The flight departs at 10:30am (UK) and lands at 15:50 (ET) which is an hour longer than last years flight.
I'm assuming the clocks in the USA change early Sunday morning?
This explains why flight is a bit longer! <flirt>

That's right Shadow, 2 a.m. Going to Disney? Is that where you went before?
Many Europeans dislike Americans, but Disney has worked miracles in Paris. There are more polite and smiling French workers at Disney than in all of France added together.

Yes I suppose I'll have to do Disney again!
I suspect it won't have changed too much in the 12 months since I was last there! <nope>
I can't wait to come back over.......I like the way of life that I see (Although it's probably trough "Rose Tinted Spectacles" - as I'm on holiday) and I'm looking forwards to the warm weather!
PLUS, I get an extra hour for FREE - bet the Hotel didn't realise, or they'd bill me for more!
wickedwitch - October 28, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
I have no idea what time it is now.:(
The clock on the mantlepiece says 1105, as does the clock on the PC.
My body is saying it's past midnight and therefore well past my bedtime.
I have no idea why we need to alter the clocks from GMT. :(
Red Andy - October 29, 2007 07:47 AM (GMT)
If anything, we should go the other way - back in March and forward in October. I hate the early sunsets!

Light. Try living in the north of Scotland and you'll find out why. Apparently it was done mainly for the benefit of farmers.

Daylight saving time (DST; also summer time in British English) is the convention of advancing clocks so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn; several ancient cultures lengthened each summer daylight hour instead. Modern DST was first proposed in 1907 by William Willett, and saw its first widespread use in 1916 as a wartime measure aimed at conserving coal. Despite controversy, many countries have used it since then; details vary by location and change occasionally.

I think most countries in the world are affected with this <dunce>

And the best bit.... the London Stock Exchange provides an interface for querying, amending and altering/deleting all trades done by a stockbroker whcih settle through the LSE. And for six months of the year, anyone who uses it has to alter the time on their workstation to take into account the fact that it checks the local time when logging on, and can't handle being more than about three minutes out of sync, let alone the fact that the system it runs on NEVER adjusts for daylight saving....
<roflmao>

So. I live in Staffordshire. Technically speaking I should be on GMT (or thereabouts since the line denoting GMT runs through Louth in Lincolnshire). Except I'm NOT. I'm either GMT+1 or -1 and right now I have no bloody idea which it is! :(

Some of you may have noticed that your 'time stamp' on posts on this forum seem to be out by an hour since daylight savings. This is something that doesn't automatically update, but needs to be changed manually in your settings. If you go to "My Controls" at the top of this page (next to your PM inbox), and then click on "Board Settings" on the side menu, you should be able to uncheck the daylight savings box, which should fix the problem.
<thumbsup>

Not me! I was an hour out beforehand so now I'm on the correct time! I think it was because I joined in February and then never adjusted my time in March....
